PETALING JAYA: Selangor Economic Advi sory Board chief executive officer Mohd Rafizi Ramli has named his team in his bid for the PKR Youth leadership.
The team, dubbed “Reformation Generation”, comprises elected representatives and activists.
Rafizi, who will take on incumbent Youth chief Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin, said the group had a healthy mix of members from various ethnic and professional backgrounds.
“We want to bring up bread-and-butter issues, bankruptcy dilemma, lack of affordable housing and the high cost of living that are affecting the young generation,” he said.
Rafizi, 33, is also the Terengganu PKR treasurer, an electric and electronic engineer and a chartered accountant.
He was also a student leader in England and was actively involved in the “Free Anwar Campaign” when former deputy prime minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was jailed for corruption in 1999.
Others in Rafizi’s team are Batu Caves assemblyman Amirudin Shari, who is vying the deputy chief post, while Pantai Jerejak assemblyman Sim Tze Tzin as well as Hutan Melintang assemblyman S. Kesavan are vying for the Youth vice-chairmen’s posts.
Teja assemblyman Chang Lih Kang, former Selangor Youth chief Halimey Abu Bakar, Perak Integration Bureau chief M.A. Tinagaran, Angkatan Belia Islam Malaysia young graduates chairman Saifullah Zulkifli and Kota Kinabalu Youth chief Jafrey Jomion are vying for the Youth executive council posts.
On the perception that it was an “Anwar team”, Rafizi said he was only associated with Anwar on a professional basis.
